I have wanted to be a therapist for as long as I can remember. After not landing a place to study Dramatherapy on graduation from University (the panel gently suggested I become a drama teacher and go and get some life experience) I believed my life had taken a different turn and had almost given up on the idea. Some things are written in the stars, however, and when I had my birth chart read in 2020 the astrologer guessed I was a therapist. Shortly after that meeting I was accepted onto Gabor Maté´s training “Compassionate Inquiry”.
Back in 2006 I dutifully trained as a drama teacher and had a wonderful career teaching teens for six years in a fantastic school in Harlow, Essex. I soon realised the power of art to heal, the importance of creativity and self-expression, and watching the students shine and feeling free and confident in their skins made me feel that we were doing dramatherapy, regardless of the title. I adored the students, and developed a deep appreciation for the human spirit, our creativity and ability to not only endure trauma, but thrive, despite the most difficult of beginnings.
Later I moved to Barcelona, a pull for change and reinvention calling me from within. This longing and searching for more meaning led me to India in 2015 where I lived in ashrams and communities for six months. Yoga became my daily practice, my coming back to Self, and it changed me and my life completely. Yoga and Buddhist spiritual teachings are at the heart of everything I do. “With our thoughts we make the world” as Buddha so wisely said. I realised we create our own suffering, and although we may not be able to change our situations, we can indeed change how we perceive them. I believe this power to choose how we react to any given circumstance, is the most liberating and empowering of truths.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate”

In order to grow and heal, we need to allow ourselves to be vulnerable. Creating a safe space, in which you feel seen and held in order that you can be free to feel, is fundamental to my practice.
The journey to expressing wholeheartedly one´s authenticity is a life’s work of undoing, integrating, embracing and accepting…one compassionate step at a time.
If we can get curious about our bodies, our reactions and responses, we open ourselves up to our own healing and transformation.
We cannot heal ourselves from a place of judgement. Self-compassion is essential in order to integrate all parts of us, knowing that these “faults” are not who we truly are, but inside each of us is pure, loving, ever-present awareness.
“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart.
Who looks outside dreams, who looks inside awakens.”
